Cutline by rinaswan Cutline by rinaswan
A word pun : cutline - คัดลาย (to delineate the motif)

I was called to participate in an exhibition to celebrate 36th Anniversary of Thai Art Department, Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Art. The exhibition is on view at The Queen's Gallery in Bangkok in December 2012, featuring the works from Thailand's great masters who are all Thai Art Dept. alumni. I'm so honored to be a part of it.

So I took a break and returned to what I used to do when I was an art student - the art of cutting (sheets of paper, plastic, and metal). Inspired by Thai ornaments and the work of Noriko Ambe, I finally did this and really missed an adventure in paper art!

Thanks Kevin! Fifteen layers were cut into motifs and another fifteen were simply hollow-cut. :)
