Likay (or colloquially "YeeKay" from Khmer), a kind of Thai folk performance, can be seen in the central region of Thailand. Both modern actor and actress always wear a lot of make-up
and clothe in flashy and rich costumes embellished with artificial gems and crystals excessively. The Likay performers must be good at singing and traditional dancing.
A Likay cast is usually itinerant. A 'week'*
Likay or the stage is temporarily set in an outdoor market or a festive fair for several days before moving on. The show is popular among middle-age ladies.
*The word 'week' derived from English, is used to call a Likay stage with a hint of the (weekly) show schedule.
